Whiskers from the Afterlife: Sheilih's Pet Psychic Services in Orinda

The Bustling Orinda Theater Square Internal Retail (TM) corridor has welcomed a unique new tenant: Sheilih, a pet psychic who helps people connect with their departed pets. Formerly known as Maryanne Christy, Sheilih made a name for herself as a corporate feng shui consultant, but the pandemic prompted her to pivot and serve the public directly.

"People did not need my expertise when everyone started to work from home," Sheilih explained. "My last corporate job was helping decide on the placement of a Xerox 3450 multi-function printer that was throwing off the vibe of a Meta network operations center."

Sheilih's new office, conveniently next to Eternal Memories, Orinda's pet taxidermy studio, has quickly become a local curiosity. Her method of communicating with pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge is as unique as it is heartfelt.

Clients are encouraged to bring old photos, dog bowls, cat toys, and other cherished items of their departed pets. Sheilih conducts a detailed interview with the pet owner to learn about the pet's habits and personality. This personal touch ensures that each session is tailored and meaningful.

But Sheilih's process continues beyond there. Clad in a foil-covered helmet, she climbs aboard her vintage Vespa scooter to trace the routes that the departed pet used to take on walks. This dedication even extends to spending nights in a pet's former crate for a week, just to bond with its spirit.

Once the initial steps are completed, Sheilih holds a session at the home of the departed pet with its owners, asking them to pose questions which she then relays through the spiritual channel she establishes. "Pets don't speak in sentences; they normally just throw out nouns or expletives," Sheilih notes. Common words she hears from dogs include "Ball," "Walk," "Treat," and "Hump." Cats, on the other hand, tend to say, "Leave me alone."

"Cats are the most difficult," Sheilih admits. "Even when departed, they still need a lot of 'me time.' I find my clients are often disappointed by cat sessions but then realize that the cat was not that friendly when it was alive." Due to this, Sheilih asks for payment upfront for cat sessions to avoid difficult conversations afterward.

Interestingly, Sheilih's location next to Eternal Memories has led to some intriguing interactions. "They were offering a service where they will send a departed pet into space. I've spoken to some of them, and they would like to come back to earth," Sheilih said, requesting that this comment remain off the record as she is working on a joint marketing plan with Eternal Memories.

Sheilih's practice is about communication, closure, and connection. She provides a unique service that blends the spiritual with the sentimental, helping pet owners find comfort and peace. Whether it's a heartfelt message from a beloved dog or the characteristic aloofness of a cat, Sheilih's sessions offer a glimpse into the enduring bond between pets and their owners.

As word spreads, Sheilih's office in Orinda Theater Square is quickly becoming a must-visit for those seeking to reconnect with their furry friends, proving that the love we share with our pets truly transcends the boundaries of life and death.
